Orianthi Taking Fame in Stride
Orianthi, the up-and-coming singer/guitarist who found international acclaim as the guitarist for Michael Jackson's This Is It comeback concert series, is intent on paying forward her newfound success.
The Australian musician has been fortunate enough to attract the attention of a few of her personal guitar heroes.
"Having the support of Santana and Steve Vai has made me just really keep at it," the guitarist told Spinner.
Now, connecting with fans is becoming a priority in and of itself. "I always try to reply to as many e-mails as I can, the messages that I get," she said.
Orianthi also stated that she'd love to usher in a new era of guitar players, female strummers in particular.
"I want to inspire a lot more guitar players, especially girls to keep at it, to want to pick it up because it's a lot of fun," she says. "There aren't too many female guitar players out there. If you love it as much as the guys do then just keep at it."
Orianthi's debut single "According to You" peaked at #6 in Australia and #21 in the US. Her debut album Believe was released in 2009.
